Funaki Mayumi's career as a singer began in 1991 when she quit her office job. She made songs for commercials, anime and movies, performed at clubs, and collaborated with other artists. In 1999 she took a long break to help her husband with his newly opened Italian restaurant. She began singing again in 2012.
