He is a resident of the Youkai Apartment.
Kuri was born to a mother who resented him. Because of his mother's resentment, he grew up without the capability to express his feelings. One day he encountered a stray dog, Shiro, who treated Kuri with love he had never received before. After a couple of years, his mother ended up killing Kuri and in retaliation, Shiro ripped out his mother's throat. After his death, Shiro takes Kuri to the Oogami who gives Akane the permission to adopt them. Akane proceeds to take them in as her adopted sons and has both Kuri and Shiro live in the Youkai Apartment.

Kuri is unable to go to heaven because of his mother's resentment towards him. His mother turned into an evil spirit and still comes after him to this day.

Kuri is very attached to Hase (who has repeatedly joked that he was like Kuri's dad and Inaba was his mom). Kuri always sleeps with Hase and Inaba whenever Hase spends the night. He also frequently takes naps with Inaba.
