Ebuchi is the vampire ("shiki") who runs the Ebuchi Clinic which is owned by the Kirishikis, formed from a convenience store on the highway which had gone out of business. He also lives with the Kirishikis, acting as their family doctor. Ebuchi's debut was the night Megumi finished off Mr. Tanaka (Akira and Kaori's father). Believing he had simply collapsed, Mrs. Tanaka called the Ebuchi Clinic, using the contact information on a card Mr. Tanaka had on his person. Instantly after the call ended, Ebuchi arrived at the house. In mid-October, on the day Toshio Ozaki experimented on his risen wife, Motoko Maeda tried to bring her victim daughter Shihori to the hospital, but as the hospital had been closed, was forced to try the Ebuchi Clinic instead. Later, in late October, it was shown that an increasing amount of victims have been hypnotised into wanting to go to the Ebuchi Clinic for medical attention. At almost daybreak the night in early November when the human mob formed, while the Ebuchi Clinic was raided, Ebuchi had hid in the pipelines along with other vampires including Officer Sasaki, Takatoshi Hirosawa, Yuzuki the librarian, and Nao Yasumori; after they had found the entrance to the pipelines, Ebuchi was the first to go down the ladder into the pipelines. Soon, a team of humans searched the pipelines and raided their way through them. In response to Nao's worry, Ebuchi suggested that they cut the town's power to open an escape using their superior sight in darkness. In order to get past the humans, a couple vampires attacked the closest few humans in the pipeline, while Ebuchi led the rest towards the only way out. However, the whole group of humans executed a fierce counter-strike against all of the vampires, and in the process, Ebuchi was slain by Sadafumi Tamo (son of Sadaichi Tamo).
